Biman Bangladesh Airlines, is the flag carrier of Bangladesh. Its main hub is at Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka and it also operates flights from its secondary hubs at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong and Osmani International Airport in Sylhet. Biman Bangladesh Airlines was created in February 1972. In modern Bengali, the word “biman” refers to “aeroplane”, originating from the Sanskrit word vimāna, a name given to a flying machine mentioned in ancient Vedic literature.
