Icelandair is the main airline of Iceland, headquartered at Keflavik International Airport in Iceland. It is part of the Icelandair Group and, and operates scheduled services on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean out of its hub at Keflavik International Airport. The geographical position of Iceland allows one-stop transatlantic flights, which are one pillar of the airline's business strategy, along with traffic to and from the country. The Boeing 757-200 became the new backbone for transatlantic flights since the 1990s.
In May 2017, Icelandair unveiled a glacier-themed special livery on Boeing 757-200 (registration TF-FIR) named Vatnajokull, the name of Europe's largest glacier. The special livery was created in order to commemorate Icelandair's 80th anniversary.
